Admission Policy

The admissions team is excited to partner with families as they consider their educational choices for their children. As we take you through our admissions process we want you to know that our primary goal is to ensure your child’s success at TRINS.

Our admissions process looks at the character of a child academically and socially to make sure TRINS is the right fit for him or her. We welcome diversity and hope that families stay with us for their child’s entire academic journey.

Admissions at the Trivandrum International School is a five-step process. We trust the following information will assist every prospective family and student in understanding our admissions procedures. Please include all the necessary documentation required for processing an application for admission.

Our Process

For all grades we require the past two years’ scholastic, as well as co-curricular records from previous schools that highlight academic and personal growth.

Submission of copy of birth certificate or passport is a must.

We would love to have you visit us when school is in session.

If you are unable to visit us, the admission office can arrange an interaction with your child via telephone or Skype.

Admission process is same as mentioned for both Indian and International Students.

All applicants need to meet the Age criterion.

Applicants need to appear for a Proficiency test and Personal interview. Based on review of the performance on the TRINS admissions entrance test, previous school records (for G1 to 12 applicants) and personal interview, a decision to offer a place to the applicant will be made by the coordinator/ section head and principal.

TRINS has a clear set of practices that we use for gathering, disseminating, and maintaining a prospective student’s information. We respect the privacy of our students and our families; we keep the confidentiality of personal documents, beginning with the admissions process.

TRINS does not discriminate on the basis of gender or race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of our educational policies, admissions policies and other school-administered programs.

Enrollment for Grade 1 to Grade 10

A Proficiency assessment will be conducted to ensure that a student is placed in the appropriate grade. Assessment focuses on checking students’ competency in English, Mathematics and Sciences. The assessment includes vocabulary, writing, reading, comprehension, mathematics, and speaking skills. Our tests are based on the past content your child has covered. The duration of the entrance tests are as follows:

GRADE ENTRANCE TEST DURATION

Enrollment for Grade 11

To enroll into the A Level and IBDP programme, a student should have successfully completed Grade 10 with a pass percentage of at least 50% from the IB, IGCSE, CBSE, or ICSE Boards.

New students will take a placement test for subjects they will be pursuing for Grade 11 and 12 along with English and Mathematics to ensure that they have adequate Knowledge, Understanding, Ability and Skills to cope with the demands of the A Levels, IBDP as well as to assess which HL or SL courses they should take. The Vice Principal, Academic Section Head, DPC and the subject teacher will advise students on this matter.

Parents of new applicants will be given a detailed orientation about the philosophy, the benefits and demands of the A Level and IBDP to help them make an informed decision.

The school will discuss the financial implications of the A Level and IBDP with parents to ensure that they will be able to support the student all through the Grade 11 and 12 at Trivandrum International School.

Enrollment for Students with special needs:

TRINS, being an inclusive school, enrolls students with mild and moderate educational needs. Slow learners and physically challenged are accepted in Trivandrum International School (refer to TRINS SEN Policy).

Before a Special Needs student is enrolled, scanned copies of their clinical assessments should be sent to the SEN Department/Admissions Officer. Based on the input from the special educator and counselor, a series of meetings are scheduled with the parents and student so as to assess the child as well as the school’s ability to provide adequate services to the students.

The school reserves the right to cancel any enrollment if found that false information and documentation has been provided.
