TRINS believes in teaching students to be aware and concerned about the welfare of the society around them. The school has a full fledged social service programme which inculcates a spirit of community in them.
TEACHING AT LOCAL SCHOOLS
Grade 11 students from TRINS visit local government schools every week to teach English and IT skills to primary school students. As a result, the children are able to converse in basic English by the end of the year. A true bond is developed between the students thereby paving the way for them to lead their lives as selfless individuals.
MONTHLY DONATIONS FOR THE PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT AT CHAVARA
Students across the school donate rice, oats, milk powder and other essentials to the the needy terminally ill cancer patients at the Palliative Care Centre at Chavara. The students also visit the centre to interact and spend time with the patients, enabling them to understand and empathize with those in need.
TRINS BROADWAY
An annual fundraising event produced and directed by students of TRINS in support of the Regional Cancer Centre. This event showcases the energy and talent of our young actors, coupled with the students’ skills in scripting & direction. The funds raised at the event is handed over to Dr. Prasanth C.V., RMO at Regional Cancer Centre and Mrs. Vimala Menon, Secretary, Cheshire Home, Trivandrum.
PYP Broadway
The students from PYP showcased their first Broadway, an adaptation from C S Lewis’ Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe. The proceeds from the event were donated to:
Construct toilets in a remote tribal location – Attapadi
Buy wheelchairs in Ward 9 of the General Hospital
Support destitute girls at the Abhaya Women’s Wing
Support higher education of a deserving child at the Government School
The Food fair
Annual Food Fair was held in October where students and staff contributed to a cause by bringing different food items to be sold.
Visit to Old age home
PYP students visit Cheshire Home on a regular basis as part of their social outreach programme and donates oats, rice, soap and Horlicks. They also spent some quality time with the inmates singing songs, sharing stories and dancing for them.
PLASTIC COLLECTION DRIVE
Students of Grade 1 initiated a plastic collection drive. The collected plastic items were given to Sai Gramam for recycling.
VISIT TO PALLIATIVE CARE UNIT
Students of Grade 9 IGCSE visited Chavara Palliative Care Unit to interact with the patients and donate food supplies.
Students of Grade 12 DP visited Chavara Palliative Care Unit as part of their CAS and community service. They donated over 100kg of rice, oats and Horlicks. They also interacted with Dr. Manjusha from RCC, Trivandrum, during the visit.
ONAM SADYA FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN
The DP students helped Mr. Radhakrishnan Pillai aka Swami Appoppan serve Onam sadya and give out Onam kits to 200 financially backward individuals on 15th August, 2017.
BAKE SALE Fundraiser
The students from DP organised a Bake Sale in the school premises, the proceedings of which were given to improve the amenities of Gandhi Bhavan shelter.
